STEEL
FABRICATION

Fortaco Steel Fabrication

Steel Fabrication is a process of manufacturing steel components, when assembled and joined, form a complete frame or other type of structure.

The primary processes in fabrication include: cutting, shaping, bending, welding, and machining. The core fabrication processes are typically supported by additional processes that turn a fabricated component into the final steelwork assembly supplied to the client. These processes include: surface preparation and corrosion protection with various technologies like E-coat (KTL), wet painting, powder painting and thermal spray process (Zn, Al, AlMg metallization).

Welding is the key fabrication process which joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by using high heat to melt parts together and allowing them to cool, causing fusion. The most common, the current welding methods are: shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as TIG, gas metal arc welding (GMAW), also known as MIG or MAG, flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), very similar to MIG and submerged arc welding (SAW).

From serial production to project business

Fortaco is the largest manufacturer of steel fabrications in Europe. We are focusing on quality, delivery performance and productivity in our manufacturing operations. Based on our long history in steel processing, we have established ourselves as a benchmark and reliable partner to our customers. Steel fabrication manufacturing operations are divided into six modern and well-invested manufacturing sites in Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Poland and Serbia.

We support our customers to enable them focusing on their core business, product design and manufacturability, and to ensure the most efficient manufacturing process with right quality and cost. This makes us a genuine manufacturing partner from design-to-cost, sourcing, manufacturing, inspection and testing to delivery to the final destination.

Manufacturing process

We have all the core manufacturing processes in-house: plate preparation, cutting and bending, welding, CNC-machining, surface treatment incl. shot blasting and painting, project management, quality management, design and manufacturing of fixtures and welding jigs. We use the latest technology and best in-class manufacturing equipment from established international brands. Automation in welding is widely used in our factories to ensure right quality and productivity.

Design and manufacturing of welding jigs is one of the elements that allow us to choose the optimal process and welding sequence for each different component we manufacture. We constantly improve our welding processes and procedures (WPQR, WPS) in close co-operation with an independent laboratory assuring the quality of our processes.

For the project business, Fortaco provides cost effective way to produce steel fabrications from single parts to small series production with needed documentation and classification.

Our expertise is in commercial mild, high-strength steel, wear resistant and armored steel grades.

Typical steel grade include:  Structural steel (S235)    Normalize structural steel (S355)    High-strength structural steel (range 500 -1100 Mpa)    Wear-resistant steel    Ultra-hard armor steel
